Bonhoeffer: a Christian in adversity

On screen is “Bonhoeffer”, the portrait of a German theologian determined to change the world for the better. Join us beforehand for a soup supper.

Bonhoeffer – This 2003 documentary is a portrait of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the German theologian who was imprisoned and killed for plotting to assassinate Hitler. This film conveys the essence of a man and his world. Bonhoeffer’s life is lyrically presented, with his friends and family shedding light on his breakaway seminary, his travels to America and Harlem, his calls to change the world for better, and his noble attempts to respond to a war-time Germany as a Christian. Written and Directed by Martin Doblmeier.

The evening is a fund raising event for Contemplative Fire; the suggested donation is $20. Come at 6 pm for a bowl of soup! The movie starts at 7 pm.

Before and after the screening, there will be a sale of gently-used spiritual books. Bring a book or two for the table, and find something new to read.
