Yoga classes at St. John’s

Looking for yoga classes that are fun, invigorating and affordable? Then take a look at the classes now being hosted at St. John’s.

Practicing yoga is a good way to bring renewed vitality to the whole person. For the body, yoga gives the benefits of strength and balance. For the mind, it brings relaxation and a sense of well-being.

Two classes run each week at St. John’s:

  • Tuesdays, noon to 1 p.m. – Hatha Flow Yoga – a gentle, relaxing style – a good choice for beginners
  • Thursdays, 1 to 2 p.m. – Hatha Flow Yoga/Pilates fusion – offers a little more physical intensity (core exercises are part of the mix)

The classes feature flowing movement to music, instruction in asana (yoga poses and alignment), pranayama (breathing) and relaxation. Classes are open to both beginners and more experienced yogis. Modifications and options are offered. Classes are led by Terry Tator, an expert instructor in both yoga and Pilates.

You’re welcome to drop in for a single session or to attend regularly as you wish. The fees are $10 for your first session, $18 for two, $25 for three, and $5 for each additional session within the month. We meet in the auditorium (enter by east side door).

When attending, please bring comfortable clothing including yoga pants, a yoga mat and two yoga blocks (4in by 6in). The blocks are optional but useful. You should plan to arrive 15 minutes early so that you have time to change and to settle in.
