Dinner. Discussion. Deeper Insights.
Gentlemen, we gather in December at St. Leonard’s for an evening of food, fellowship, and discussion on topics that matter. It’s a time to catch up with old friends or to make some new ones. It’s a time to sit down and share in a hearty meal together. And it’s a time to explore topics of faith and its place in our world.
This December, the Men’s Supper Club will meet at St. Leonard’s church, located northeast of the intersection of Yonge Street and Lawrence Avenue.
Having faith … having doubts
Do you have doubts about your faith? Do you feel uncertain about particular teachings? If you do have doubts, does that mean that perhaps you’re not a true Christian? Writer John Ortberg tackles these questions head on in his book Know Doubt: Embracing Uncertainty in your Faith.
The Men’s Supper Club will be looking at what Ortberg has to say about the role of doubt in faith. He says that if you have doubts, you should take heart, because acknowledging doubts is the first step in a path that can lead to an deeper and more vigorous faith.
It is suggested (but not required!) that you spend some time with Know Doubt before we meet. Copies are available from the church office, or from Wayne Minett in the foyer on Sunday mornings.
