Help make the Giving Tree festive
Christmas Gift Drive Needs Your Help
A big thank you to Mastermind Toys, who has come through wonderfully with enough items for the children at Robertson House women’s shelter and with small gifts for the 27 homework club students at Downsview Youth Covenant. Sadly, the Leslie and Sheppard Canadian Tire store has ended the matching-dollar program and is only offering shopping at recent or current sale prices. Fortunately, the Outreach budget has enough to buy a gift for each child in the homework club.
This year Flemingdon Park Ministry will make a contribution out of their budget to help buy a thank-you gift for their most dedicated volunteers. But the new Director, Rev. Beverley Williams, has told us that they are facing a challenge regarding the regular toy donations. “We are woefully short of gifts this year and already have over 500 children signed up. Any and all gifts are appreciated,” she writes.
This means that, this year, your support of the Giving Tree is even more important! You can also place a contribution in the collection plate or bring it to the church office – please indicate “For Christmas Gifts” on the cheque or envelope.
The Giving Tree
The Giving Tree is in the foyer right by the front doors. We invite you to decorate it with homemade or purchased mittens, hats and scarves, and to place donations of gifts for children under the tree.
Flemingdon Park Ministry will use your contributions for their two Saturday “Giving Store” events. The first pick-up will be on Thursday, December 8 and the second on December 15, so bring your donations in as soon as possible!
