Mar 10: A World without Borders

Postponed to March 10 –
Contemplative Fire
Engaging and making and difference
with hot topics in our world

We are passionate about our FIREWORKS! evenings and as much as our community, and as such we have decided do what we can to ensure that both are safe. Due to the expected large snowfall, tricky winter driving conditions and occasional blowing snow beginning this afternoon, we have decided to postpone our event until next month. Please join us on Friday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m. to consider and discuss the implications of A World Without Borders.

On the second Friday evening of every month, join us for FIREWORKS! – an opportunity to commune with others as we get in touch with our Fire side.  We gather monthly to discuss ‘hot’ topics affecting us today, where the Spirit of God may be inviting us to engage and make a difference.

A World Without Borders

0210 A world without bordersBorders figure strongly in our world and in our minds. Our society commits much time and money to building borders, guarding them, and deciding who and what should be allowed to pass through them. Political leaders have won and lost elections over opinions about borders.

But what would our world be like if there were no borders? Imagine a world where people could travel and seek better lives without restriction. Imagine a world where cultures mixed and melded in unpredictable ways. Imagine a world where communities could be turned upside down by demographic outflows and inflows.

We’re pleased to welcome Anne Woolger to this month’s FIREWORKS! to lead our discussion. Anne has thirty years of experience working with refugees and is the founder and Executive Director of Matthew House. Matthew House assists refugees upon arrival and through their early days in Canada

You are Welcome Here

All are welcome to our open, gentle and thought-provoking evening of ideas and discussion. It is a time to be with like-minded individuals sharing common passions. It is a perfect way to get to know one another!

Elements of Contemplative Fire will be woven into the evening: discussions take place in large and small group formats, and there are times for silence. We’ll start the evening with a little social time accompanied by wine and cheese.
