Feast on Shrove Tuesday
Shrove Tuesday is the last day before the season of Lent, a time for the feast before the fast.
Lent is a time of fasting, of going without, of prayer, and of penance as we reflect on the past year and set intentions for the year ahead. Shrove Tuesday is traditionally a day of feasting as we try to finish up food that cannot be consumed during Lent, and pancakes been a part of that tradition for several centuries.
Pancake Supper at St. John’s
The men of St. John’s will be cooking up a feast in style, flipping pancakes in the kitchen decked out in their tuxedos. Come and enjoy pancakes with you favourite toppings – you can have a little or a lot as they will be serving continuously from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The St. John’s worship band will also be on hand to add a little pizazz with their musical accompaniment.
In support of Outreach projects
There will be a free-will offering, with proceeds going to St. John’s Outreach. St. John’s Outreach is at work here at home with the Barnabas Breakfast, in the community through the Flemingdon Park Ministry, and around the world through refugee sponsorships and the Primate’s World Relief Development Fund. We hope you’ll consider a contribution to support us.
