May 7: Musicfest 2017

Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!

Thank you to all the musicians, volunteers, and the audience members who made Musicfest 2017 a wonderful and memorable musical journey. All the practice and preparation that went into this day paid off in the great handbell, choral, and band performances of songs from around the world. There was even a guest appearance by Pavlov’s Dogs, a handbell ensemble that has played in nightclubs.

This year, for the first time, Musicfest was broadcast live on YouTube. About forty viewers clicked in to watch the event as it happened; you can watch a recording of the livestream here.

We also raised funds through ticket sales that will further the work of Sleeping Children Around the World and of the music programs here at St. John’s.

Around the World in 80 Minutes

On Sunday afternoon, May 7, take a musical trip around the world. Be in your seats by 3 p.m. when we depart for a tour of the music of many lands.

Musicfest features a mix of music including traditional and modern styles, with many popular songs that you already know and a few lesser-known but delightful melodies, drawn from places far and wide. Our musical journey event includes a few “destinations” where you, the audience, get to participate and make music.

Tickets are still only $15 per adult and $5 per child. They are available every Sunday morning from April 16 in the foyer, or from the church office at 416-225-6611. Proceeds from the concert will benefit Sleeping Children Around the World, outreach projects at St. John’s, and our handbell program.
