Women of the Lychgate Group gather for our regular monthly meeting. We welcome Rev. Tim Taylor who will speak about his pilgrimage on the Camino Santiago.
In May of this year, Tim went to Portugal to hike a portion of the Camino Portugues — from Porto, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
The Camino Portugues is one of several pilgrimages that terminate in Santiago, where the bones of the apostle St James are buried. St James was the brother of Jesus and, after the crucifixion, traveled to the Iberian peninsula to spread the gospel, as described in Romans 10:18: “Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.” At the time, this area was perceived to be the literal end of the world; in fact, there is a town on the coast named Finisterre, which means exactly that!
An Evening of Fellowship and Enlightenment
At our meeting, Tim will recount the story of his journey, and discuss what he found out both about the pilgrimage and about himself. We’ll begin the evening with a social time that includes some finger food, then we will move into Tim’s presentation which will include time for discussion.
