The Advent 2017 issue of The Link – SJYM’s quarterly newsletter – has arrived. Find it online here, on paper in the foyer on Sunday, or in your mailbox.
Advent: the Countdown to Christmas
The first Sunday of Advent – Sunday, December 2, 2017 – marks the official beginning of the Christian year. It’s also the beginning of the season of anticipation and hope – in our faith, for the imminent arrival of Jesus, and in our daily lives, for the celebrations and festivities. Learn more about Advent, and about the many events, works, and services at SJYM during the season, in this issue of The Link.
Looking Ahead to the New Year
It’s time to think about the course for SJYM in the coming year. What plans should we be making so that we can better fulfil our mission of knowing Christ and making Him known? As part of this, all members of the SJYM community are challenged to think about this question:
What is the one thing we could do at St. John’s
that would make you personally excited
about being a part of it?
See the Link for some thoughts and about how you can add your voice to the conversation.
Letters from Near and Afar
In this issue of The Link, we have news of those who have been a part of our faith community or have been touched by our works: About the families that are a part of our refugee sponsorship program; from Chantal Sathi, our former children- and youth-ministries leader who is now studying at Oxford; and here at home, of snapshots and write-ups from recent events.
Read and Enjoy
There’s plenty to read in the Advent 2017 issue of The Link. Enjoy!
