The Lychgate Group meets on Thursday March 8 at 7 p.m. This month we welcome Constable Howard Clements who will speak on fraud prevention.
Perhaps you have been on the receiving end of unexpected or unsettling requests. The testy voice on the phone claiming to be calling from Canada Revenue about unpaid taxes. The man at the door who says he needs to inspect your water heater. The e-mail message warning of suspicious activity on your bank account and asking you to re-confirm. Unfortunately these things are a part of life, so it’s wise to be aware of what they are, how they work, and how to deal with them.
Constable Howard Clements will join us on March 8 to speak about frauds and scams. Some of the topics he will cover are:
- What are the more common frauds and scams?
- How should you respond to suspicious requests?
- What if you suspect someone is engaging in fraud?
- What should you do if you are a victim or fraud?
The evening is open to all members and friends of St. John’s York Mills. It is appreciated if you can RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
