Ideas for Summer Reading

Spirituality for a lifetime

Wondering what books you might like to read while on holiday this summer? The Men’s Supper Club has an idea: Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life by Richard Rohr.

We often see the first phase of our lives as an upward trajectory: building a career, raising a family, working toward success. This can lead us into seeing the remainder of our lives as a time of decline. Richard Rohr thinks that this second phase is in fact an opportunity for spiritual growth. When we understand both sides of success, by knowing “down” as well “up”, we are set to live a renewed life. Rohr offers a roadmap to a second half of life that is fulfilling and satisfying.

This book delivers thoughtful insights in a very readable package. In other words, a perfect summer read.

The Men’s Supper Club is recommending this book to its members, and indeed, will be discussing the book when they meet in September. A few copies are available for $25 each from the church office.
