Gentlemen, do you hunger for spiritual sustenance as well as a hearty supper? The Men’s Supper Club is for you. Meeting at 6:30 on the second Tuesday of every month, we gather for some socializing, a hearty meal, and thoughtful discussion around topics of Christian faith that are relevant to modern lives.
On Tuesday, September 11, we are considering the book Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life by Richard Rohr. For many of us, the goals of the first half of life are clear: get an education, start a career, set up a home, perhaps raise a family.
In contrast, as we enter the second half of life, things become confusing: What is my real purpose in life? I think I found success; why do I feel unfulfilled? Is this all there is? Richard wrestles with these questions and offers some ideas – ideas on how we can turn falling into spiritual despair, into falling upward into a more purposeful, more satisfying second half of life.
It is recommended (but not necessary!) that you have a look at the book beforehand. The church office has a few copies available for $25 each. If you plan to come to the dinner, it is appreciated if you can let Wayne Minett or the church office know, to help with meal planning.
