Each year, a worthy parishioner is chosen as the St. John’sman of the year. This year, Tim Orser received this honour and the coveted St. John’s tie.
Tim Orser is a familiar face at St. John’s on Sundays and often during the week. He has volunteered his skills, from carpentry to audio-visual operations, in the service of concerts and special events at St. John’s. He’s also pretty cool on the saxophone and is often on stage in those concerts and in the regular Sunday band. In recent years, Tim has been deepening in faith by participating in small-group studies.
Tim was honoured at the 2018 Annual Men’s Dinner. The Men’s Dinner is an opportunity for men of the parish to gather for a traditional evening of socializing, a hearty meal, and a presentation. This year, the men welcomed back Ted Barris, a lively and engaging historian and speaker, who told the story of the Dam Busters and the Canadian perspective in this pivotal air raid of World War II.
Congratulations to Tim Orser, thank you to those who helped organize the Dinner, and thank you to all who attended. Hope to see you again in 2019.
