Aug 24 – Special Vestry Meeting

Parishioners are encouraged to attend a Special Vestry Meeting on Sunday, August 24, 2014 after the 10 a.m. service, to gauge support for two major proposals.

The agenda will include only two items. Both are proposals to submit grant requests to the Diocese through the Our Faith-Our Hope program:

  1. Three-year support for a youth ministry program, and
  2. Funding to extend our renovation into the church school wing with the goal of creating a learning and conference centre.

We want to determine your support-in-principle for these projects before we go ahead with the funding proposals. We do not anticipate a long meeting but it is an important one.

Please share this notice with any members of St. John’s whom you know. All people meeting the Diocesan requirements at St. John’s York Mills are encouraged to attend.

Canon 14 of the Diocese of The Anglican Church of Toronto outlines the requirements for persons to vote at a parish’s vestry. In essence, each individual should be prepared to declare that they have been a member of the Anglican Church of Canada and the St. John’s congregation for at least three (3) months; have attended worship services on a regular basis; are over the age of sixteen (16) years; and, have not voted nor intend to vote at any other parish’s vestry during 2014.

A Sign-In Sheet will be at the door to the meeting.

We look forward to seeing you.

P.S.: Our Annual Vestry meeting is scheduled for Sunday, October 19, 2014 – please mark your calendars.
