Wed Jan 2, 9:30 a.m. – Church Office reopens – The office reopens for regular activities following the Christmas break.

Mon Jan 7, 7:15 p.m. – Youth Night Every Monday evening – Meet in the Youth Room for a free-form evening of socializing, games, and relaxing. It’s also a time for conversations from light-hearted to serious. Come early at 6:00 to help make soup in the Garnsworthy room, or at 6:45 when we sit down for soup supper.

Tue Jan 8, 6:30 p.m. – Men’s Supper Club – Gentlemen, you’re invited to an evening of food, fellowship, and frank discussion around a piece of contemporary Christian writing. This month, we’re starting to look at the writing of Philip Yancey in his book What’s So Amazing About Grace? Please contact Wayne Minett or the church office for more information.

Wed Jan 9, 6:15 p.m. – The Grad Class resumes – Welcome back for another season of going deep into Christian beliefs, practices, and organizations. Meet in the Garnsworthy room. Please contact the church office for more details.

Wed Jan 9, 7:00 p.m. – Breathe at YLFEvery Wednesday at 25 Wanless Ave – Yonge Lawrence Fellowship’s midweek worship service. Whatever trials and frustrations your week has held … at Breathe you’ll find some space, some peace, some grounding, something of the unforced rhythms of grace. Thur Jan 10, 7:30 p.m. – Lychgate Group Meeting – The women of the Lychgate Group gather in the Garnsworthy Room. The topic for the evening is: a Trip to Sandy Bay Primary School, presented by three members of St. John’s who recently returned from Sandy Bay.

Sat Jan 12, 9:30 a.m. – Orientation for New Membersto noon – Are you new to St. John’s or would like to reconnect? Come for a morning of discovery as Rev. Drew talks about life at St. John’s. Topics range from the fundamentals – who we are and what we believe – to the practical – people, services, and programs. It’s also your chance to ask Drew anything about our church.

Fri Jan 18, 7:00 p.m. – A Night Out with God and the Girls – Our slightly unconventional book club starts its 2019 year tonight. Grow in faith and friendships over refreshments and lively discussion. This month we’re talking about The Power by Naomi Alderman. This month we’re meeting offsite – contact the office for information.

Sat Jan 26, 4:00 p.m. – Ordination of Shelly Pollard – A ceremony to ordain Deacon Shelly-Ann Pollard to the Holy Order of Priests. The ordination takes place at St. John’s; a reception will follow.

Sun Jan 27, 4:00 p.m. – Contemplative Fire: Way Beyond ReligionAt St. Leonard’s Church, 25 Wanless Ave – Our regular monthly gathering, offering silence, reflection, gentle discussion, and a shared potluck meal following. This month’s theme is Many Parts One Body. All are welcome – learn more at

Tue Jan 29, 7:00 p.m. – The Recovery Course – Starting at YLF, 25 Wanless Ave – A free course for those who are struggling with addictions and who want to invest in their road to recovery. The course runs Monday evenings for twelve weeks.  Please visit for more information and to register.

Wed Jan 30, 8:00 a.m. – Barnabas Breakfast – Until 11 a.m., a warm breakfast, spiritual comfort, and fellowship. Volunteers are always welcome; please contact the church office at 416-225-6611.

Thur Jan 31, 8:00 p.m. – Worship Team Night – A time for worship and prayer. This is also a time for learning techniques for worship, and exploring workship leadership. Hosted by Kevin. All are welcome.
