Gentlemen, if you hunger for intellectual stimulation and spiritual growth, along with some good food and wine, the Men’s Supper Club is the place for you. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in the Garnsworthy room. Dinner is served at 6:30, and discussions start at 7:30 p.m.
This fall we have been looking at selections from Eric Metaxas’s volume Life, God, and Other Small Topics – a collection of essays from Socrates and the City, a forum that asked major Christian thinkers to ponder today’s most important questions. On March 10 we will look at Making Sense out of Suffering by Peter Kreef, a theologian at Boston College who has written extensively on Christian philosophy, theology, and apologetics.
Why does God allow suffering in a world He loves? Why are so many lives affected and so many people hurt by tragic events that seem pointless and gratuitous? Peter Kreef has thought about this deeply, and he writes about what he has learned.
If you can, please read the chapter – Making Sense out of Suffering – beforehand. If you would like help finding a copy of this book please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you would like to attend, please send a note to Damien Benedict so we can plan for the meal. We do ask a nominal fee to cover the cost of the dinner but it’s not mandatory. And if you haven’t read the chapter – come anyway!
