Each year around the beginning of May, our  handbell ringers, chimers, singers and instrumentalists prepare for MUSICFEST. This concert features handbells, with Choir, Band, organ, piano, handchimes and percussion. From time to time other instruments are added such as trumpet, saxophone, flute and violin. Our concert is approximately one and a half hours in length and suitable for all ages with a variety of music and with audience participation.

2018 Concert – Magical Music from the Movies

Music that can charm the restless soul and lift the sagging spirit: you’ll find it at MusicFest 2018 with the music of magic from the movies. Drawing on moments of magic from history (Titanic) to fantasy (Beauty and the Beast) and much in between, we’ll re-live those moments through songs from the movies.

MusicFest 2018 happens on Sunday, June 3, 2018 starting at 2 p.m. at St. John’s York Mills church. (The concert was first scheduled for May 6, but had to be postponed due to severe weather.) Tickets are $15 per adult and $5 per child. This year, children who come in costume as a movie character get in free!

Supporting Good Works at Home and Abroad

MusicFest is the annual fundraiser that supports our many Outreach activities and the St. John’s Handbell/Handchime Program. Over the years, MusicFest had helped Sleeping Children Around the World provide 250 kits to children everywhere so that they can sleep better and be better equipped for school. Here at St John’s, the Handbell/Handchime program has given many young people skills in reading and performing music, the ability to play a unique instrument, and the chance to have some fun as part of a team.
