Nov 11, 11 am: Remembrance Day

100th Anniversary Commemoration

In this year, 2018, we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended the Great War of 1914 to 1918. This treaty, signed at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, officially brought an end to fighting and the return of peace. Celebration of the end of the war was tempered by the mourning for those who had died in the fighting and by the realization of what it had cost all citizens.

On Sunday, November 11, 2018, St. John’s will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the armistice with a special Remembrance day service that will begin at 11 a.m. sharp.

A reception will take place following the service.

Everyone is encouraged to come to this significant and solemn commemoration, and to be seated by 11 a.m. Note that there are no regular services on November 11.
