Prayers for Syria

The August 21st gas attack on the Ghouta area of Damascus was yet one more unimaginable atrocity in Syria’s deadly two-and-a-half year old civil war that is believed to have killed more than 100,000 people.  Over 4 million people have been internally displaced in Syria and a further 2 million have fled the country.  In Za’atari refugee camp in neighbouring Jordon, 60% of the 130,000 refugees sheltered there are children, the vast majority traumatized by their experiences in Syria.

PWRDF invites you to pray for the people of Syria both inside the country and in exile and to pray for peace in this war-torn region of the world. PWRDF also invites you to support its continuing efforts to bring relief to God’s suffering people.   To date, PWRDF has provided a total of $50,000 in emergency grants for the Syria Crisis. ACT Alliance (Action by Churches Together) has just issued a new $20 million appeal to provide food, water, shelter and health care for people in Syria and for those seeking shelter in the neighbouring countries (Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey). PWRDF welcomes donations for Syria.
